This past spring, the Monmouth Men started strong winning the first playoff game in several years beating Morris RFC 40 - 10. In the second playoff game against Bayonne, Monmouth played very well but came up short losing in the final mintues 13-17. Monmouth finished their playoff run by losing to Hartford RFC on the final play of the game in what was one the best played games in recent history. The final was 24-27, which put an end to the playoff run for Monmouth. The spring season was culminated by our annual Monmouth Day celebration, which this year took on a different twist with Monmouth RFC (Wales) coming into town.

The spring season for all purposes was a success. However, our record doesn't show it. We finished the spring 1-8. Our only win coming against Morris. We should have had a second win against Hartford and position in the North East Championships, but it wasn't to be. For the remainder of the season, we could not put together the people that we had for the first three matches on the field at the same time. It was either due to injury, other commitments, or just plain laziness.

We now look to the fall season which as you know is our league season. We have a very good chance to do significantly better in the league this fall and should look to return to the playoffs again. But you need to commit to the team and the playing side in order for this to happen.
